Langford Lakes Nature Reserve's education shelter is back in action thanks to the generosity and hard work of Octavius' environmental team. The shelter, vital for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust's (WWT) Youth Education and Wellbeing (YEW) program, was damaged by recent storms, leaving it unsafe and unusable. This forced the YEW team's Forest School Leaders to relocate their outdoor education sessions for children aged 5-18.

Adding to the challenge, WWT faced further setbacks when we lost our supplier, leaving us without the materials needed for repairs. Facing these obstacles, Damian Haasjes, WWT's Director of Education and Wellbeing, reached out to Octavius for help.
Octavius, who already enjoy a strong relationship with WWT, responded quickly. Octavius stepped in not only to procure the necessary materials but also provide hands-on assistance with the repairs.
In February, staff from Octavius dedicated their volunteering day to join our team at Langford Lakes. The materials arrived on time, and together the team was able to efficiently reinforce the structure, install new timber joists, and fit a brand-new, weatherproof flat roof complete with liner and felt. This crucial support means that our education sessions at Langford Lakes can now continue rain or shine.
